We had a great week in Major League Baseball. The Braves ended up winning 14 in a row, the Dodgers lost a major part of the offense at the Mookie Betts and the Brewers and Cardinals were both held to the top of the NL Central. Let’s take a look at how a file works MLB Power Rankings Align with her odds of winning the world championship.

New York Yankees
Strength Ranking: 1st (last week: 1st)
World Championship odds: +450

The Dodgers have been the favorites to win the World Championship this entire season. Now, the Yankees are tied up with them for the best overall odds of winning it all. The Dodgers continue to feel the effects of the foul injury, losing bowler Walker Buehler and Bates is on the injured list. Bates is expected to be back in about two weeks, but the Dodgers family had been struggling before his injury. They only went 3-3 last week, despite seeing angels and guardians. Now, they will face the rising Reds and Braves next week. They will also have a crucial streak coming up against Padres, just half the match back from first place. This dodger team is currently going through motions.

That brings us to the Yankees, who despite taking an 8-3 lead against the Blue Jays on Sunday, went 6-1 in the week. This team averaged 7.2 points per game over the past week while only allowed in 3.1. This crime simply cannot be stopped. New York is one of two teams to have achieved at least 100 home runs in 2022. The Yankees are also close to the return of curator Aroldis Chapman, who is set to face the direct hitters over the next two days. Amazingly, Chapman may not return to the role closer upon his return, as Clay Holmes has been automatic since May 24, when Chapman was placed on the hit list. During that time, Holmes threw 10 1/3 innings, allowing no five-strokes to run with 12 hits and only one walk. This is the kind of production a team like the Yankees can see when a key member goes down. This team should be the independent candidate to win it all.

San Diego Padres
Strength Ranking: 3rd (last week 4)
World Championship odds: +1300

The Padres continue to rise in our power rankings, yet are the only team in the top five with double odds of winning the World Championship. Yes, even though this team was half a game off the top of the Western National League, they have the seventh best odds of winning the World Championship. I say it every week, but this is still the best value on the board. The Padres have a three-game streak against the upcoming D-backs, followed by a four-game streak against the Phillies. All of these games come home, as Padres went 17-13.

I’m impressed that this team is still in the double digits to win everything. When it comes to odds, there are only four teams in the odds: Dodgers, Yankees, Astros and Mets. After them come Blue Jays (10-1) and Braves (12-1). At the very least, I think 10-1 is a more realistic price for Padres, so getting it at 13-1 is too good to be missed. They have received Some bad news this week, that Fernando Tates Jr. is not where they want him to be as he is recovering from a broken left wrist. At this rate, it’s unlikely we’ll see him before the All-Star break, but that means he’s likely to be a late-season addition to this squad. Mane Machado He suffered a sprained ankle Sunday, but X-rays revealed no fractures. It’s a blow to this squad, but with the right upcoming schedule, I’m not entirely worried.

Houston Astros
Strength Ranking: 5th (last week 5th)
World Championship odds: +650

Well, let’s talk about the Astros for a minute. They totally crush it in the MLS Western, enjoying a 9 1/2 game lead over the Angels. In fact, the entire division, excluding the stars, is under 500. Yes, the Angels, Rangers, Mariners, and athletics are all 0.478 or less. Which somehow helps me put forward my view on waiting on the Astros’ odds of winning the World Championship.

If you’re a fan of the Astros winning the World Series, I can’t blame you. The team is 41-25, has a plus-53 running differential, and has a record of 8-7 against teams over 0.500. wait what? 8-7? The Astros only played 15 games against teams above 0.500? Oh. Well, that’s interesting, isn’t it?

The Astros are about to embark on a very difficult week ahead. They play both teams in New York. Then they face each other again – nine games in a row against the two best teams in baseball. Sorry, this is a schedule to hold for the rest of the month! I think it’s best to wait for those odds for the Astros. The only way it might backfire is if you swept the entire month, and I gave you the worst advice imaginable. I feel very confident that it will not happen. So while I think this is one of the strongest candidates to win it all, I think you’ll have better odds to consider it by the time July comes around.

Atlanta Braves
Strength Ranking: 6th (last week 8)
World Championship odds: +1200

The Braves’ stunning winning streak in 14 matches finally came to an end, when the Cubs defeated them 1-0 and then followed them up with another 6-3 victory. The Cubs haven’t been an overly successful team this year, so seeing them take two out of three against the Rookie Braves came as a shock.

The brave have a tough schedule ahead. They will go home, but they will host the Giants and then the Dodgers. The Braves didn’t do particularly well against teams above 0.500, going only 12-14 in those matches. The Giants’ rotation has been one of the strongest in the league, boasting a 3.75 ERA and 3.12 . team FIP, which is the lowest in the league. Then, of course, as mentioned, the wounded Dodgers would come to Atlanta, which at this point might be a win-win streak for the Braves.

My biggest interest with Braves is making postseason. The Mets have gone through such tears that even with the Braves winning 14 in a row, they are still 5 1/2 behind in the East. It’s certainly not out of the question, but the Mets are the favorites to win the division by a 250-50 margin. So that would leave the brave ones to fight for the Wild Card spot. They’re right in the mix now but they have some tough teams to hold back like the Brewers, Phillies, Giants and Padres. It’s very realistic for NL West to have three teams reaching post-season, leaving no room for error in the middle and east. I will now defer these possibilities.

St. Louis Cardinals
Strength Ranking: 8th (last week 7)
World Championship odds: +3000

I feel compelled to bring those odds to the Cardinals at 30-1. Recent struggles by the Brewers have driven the Cardinals to a standstill atop the Central Division. The rest of the teams aren’t even in the fray, with the Pirates, Cubs and Reds all trailing at least 10 1/2 games. This leaves the Brewers and Cardinals to overcome. After taking three out of four against the Pirates, the Cardinal was able to make only one of the three games against the Red Sox over the weekend.

Now, the Cardinals are ready to take on their division rival, the Brewers, with whom they split the season streak, 4-4. The Cardinal gets the brew crew just in time, as Milwaukee struggles in both aiming and attacking. During June, brewers were combined at 4.76 APM and 4.86 FIP. The crime was combined for curved line of .231/.299/.363 with just 58 points, which ranks 25th this month. I’m not convinced the Cardinals will win it all, but those odds are pretty long for a team that could come out on top of NL Central.
