Blake Burkhalter of Auburn is linked to 2nd nationally with 15 saves. The small right-hander from Dothan, Ala., scored a save in each of the Tigers’ super regional wins in Oregon. Notre Dame tops Texas

Notre Dame defeats Texas 7-3. Irish shooters John Michael Bertrand, Alex Rao and Jack Findlay combined to allow zero extra basestrokes in the night. This is the first time this has happened for the Longhorns in 68 games this season.

Texans face Texas A&M in the elimination match on Sunday at 2 p.m. (ET). Then we get Notre Dame v Oklahoma. This side of the easel, as expected, will be fun to watch.

Move key

John Michael Bertrand, who allowed three rounds in 5 1/3 innings tonight for Notre Dame, moved from Foreman after the 2020 season. Foreman canceled her baseball program in 2020 in the wake of the pandemic, providing transfer opportunities for players like Bertrand. Notre Dame’s success in running ads this season is key to their current run; The team ranked 12th nationally in ERA (3.95) and sixth in strokes per nine runs (10.8). Bertrand, to be specific, scored 2.69 ERAs in 103 2/3 runs.

big picnic

The Texans averaged eight runs per game this season, more than any other team that has reached the College World Series. John Michael Bertrand of Notre Dame put together a really nice run against this offense, allowing only six hits – and zero additional base strokes – and two innings in 5 1/3 innings. The night is over after 96 throws, and Alex Rowe comes in.

Big call, big turning point

Great call here in Notre Dame Texas. Pete Hansen cast one look at a play to give Silas Ardoin a chance to beat the house plate. After a lengthy review, the crew decided that Jack Brannigan beat the card and turned the call, extending the Irish lead to 3-1.

Ball bear tonight

We don’t get used to seeing too many runs at Charles Schwab Stadium in Omaha, but we did get a combined four from Oklahoma, Texas A&M and an initial shot from Notre Dame. Texas A&M coach Jim Schlossnagel said he’s noticed that the ball has been running right into BP over the past couple of days, then pitched this in: “The ball has definitely changed. I’m not a big conspiracy theorist, but there are a lot of coaches who think That ball has changed a lot, this particular season. I don’t know enough about the science to say that’s the case or not. But there’s no question, whether it’s the older players or the lack of good shooters, the ball is flying everywhere this year. “.

Aggies are back in it

The Texas A&M team scores four runs into the bottom of seventh to trim Oklahoma’s lead to 12-8.

We’re watching the highest-grossing CWS game of all time at this 11-year-old park. The last game with the most runs came in 2008, when Fresno State beat Georgia 19-10 in Game Two of the championship series.

Oklahoma was relentless today. The Sooners boosted their lead to 12-3 in the fourth inning thanks to the Grand Slam from Jackson Nicklaus. A&M has already answered with Homer’s Austin Post solo to make the score 12-4.

The famous alum in the crowd

Oklahoma has the famous alum in the crowd today in Omaha. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray here supports the Sooners as they take his other former school and meet the team Thursday. Don’t forget that Murray was a top 10 MLB player and played for Skip Johnson’s ballclub in 2017-18. He left Texas A&M at the end of the 2015 football season before he could play a game with the Aegies baseball team.

bucking this trend?

Set up From Texas A&M and Oklahoma employees It allowed more hits than in the rounds held during the 2022 season. That wasn’t a recipe for success in Omaha. No team has won a national title with more than one hit allowed per round since the Cinderella Fresno State Bulldogs, seeded No. 4, in 2008.

Dating back to 1999—the year the field expanded to 64—only two of these teams won a national title (Team Fresno State and 2000 LSU) and only three other teams made it to the championship series (2008 Georgia, 2005 Florida and 2002 South Carolina).

The last 10 National Champions combined to allow 0.873 hits per inning during the season while the last 10 riders did slightly better at 0.843.

Oklahoma, which advanced to the CWS by winning two of its three games at Virginia Tech, allowed 1,081 results per nine innings. Texa A&M, which swept Louisville at College Station, posted check-in at 1,033.
