2022 NASCAR in St. Louis Race Picks Enjoy Illinois 300 odds, predictions and best bets from a proven expert

After posting his first win of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season in early April, Denny Hamlin struggled, finishing 18th or worse in each of his next five starts. But the 41-year-old came out of the slump May 15 with a fourth-place finish in Kansas and became the third driver to claim multiple wins this year when he picked up the checkered flag in Charlotte last weekend. Hamlin is aiming for his third win of the season and second in a row when he competes Sunday in the 2022 Enjoy Illinois 300, the inaugural Cup Series race held at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois, outside St. Louis.

Hamlin is listed 7-1 and Series Champion Kyle Larson is the 6-1 candidate in the latest 2022 Enjoy Illinois 300 odds from Caesars Sportsbook. Kyle Bush and Martin Truex Jr. 8-1 while William Byron, Ross Chastain and Chase Elliott top the 2022 Illinois 300 contenders at 17-2. You’ll want to check out our NASCAR St. Louis predictions from Micah Roberts, the legendary Vegas bookmaker who pioneered racing betting, before stepping into any 2022 game. Enjoy the Illinois 300 of your own choosing.

Roberts, a former Vegas bookmaker, was the first to introduce NASCAR extended betting, and now he’s handing out NASCAR winners to his followers on SportsLine. Roberts is the number one NASCAR bookmaker in the country, and his top pick, Elliott, won the Jockey Made in America 250 last season.

He also correctly predicted the 2021 Coca-Cola 600 winner, netting Larson’s win by 11-2, and was about to target Elliott as the EchoPark Texas Grand Prix winner by 8-5 the previous week. In addition, Roberts installed the GEICO 500 last year when he predicted Brad Keselowski would win by 14-1. Anyone who followed their choices cashed tickets.

Now, Roberts has analyzed the field and odds for Sunday’s NASCAR race at St. Louis 2022 (See tickets at StubHub). It only shares the predicted winner and leaderboard in SportsLine.

One shock: Roberts is low on Larson, even though he is one of the best 2022 contenders in the Illinois 300. In fact, Roberts says Larson, who has finished ninth or better in five of his last six starts, barely made it into the top ten.

“Larson did not prepare well in Phoenix and Martinsville, and he was fifth in Richmond without leading a lap,” Roberts told SportsLine, referring to Larson’s performance on similar tracks this season. “I’ll wait for him to run another 1.5 miles before I bet on him again.”

Another curve ball: Roberts ranks high on Ryan Blaney, who clocked 12-1 in the most recent NASCAR at Madison odds. The 28-year-old Ohio native is still looking for his first win of the season after hitting a career high in 2021. Blaney crashed from last week’s race in Charlotte and finished in the top 10 in each of his previous races. Four posts but he was seventh or better in four consecutive games before that.

“It’s all about what he’s done on the two relevant tracks this season that have been used – Phoenix and Richmond,” Roberts told SportsLine. “Blaney led the most laps in each (143 in Phoenix and 128 in Richmond) and came out with two spots in the top 10.”
