It’s no secret that The Mandalorian It is a huge success. The star Wars Premiered in the early days of Disney+, the series was a groundbreaking original program for the streaming service — not only a renewal for several seasons, but also a precursor to action. Big competition like the next Ahsoka And the boba fett book. Given its popularity, it’s no surprise that Lucasfilm and Disney would like more of the show – but that makes it no less exciting to hear directly from author Jon Favreau on it. The Mandalorian The fourth season is in the works months before the third season is released.
star Wars The news spread quickly in the past few days thanks to its persistence Star Wars Celebration Convention in Anaheim, California – from disclosure first Andor tractor to me Development announcements Star Wars: Skeleton Crew – And this story was taken from the press line after yesterday’s big Mandalorian + show. While speaking with Jon Favreau, I asked about the growing number of shows set in the New Republic era of law and whether that could eventually lead to some sort of coronation event (a la Avengers), and the director’s response was that he revealed it The Mandalorian Season 4 is now being written:
With TV, we’re very fortunate that we don’t have to speed things up in an hour and a half, two hours. We tell stories slowly. Yet, like Dave [Filoni]He does Ahsoka’s job, he tells a lot about the writing I’m doing for her [The Mandalorian] Season 4, it becomes – how would I describe it – more accurate.
The Mandalorian Season 3 has completed principal photography, and while those new episodes are in post-production, it’s clear that Jon Favreau isn’t wasting any time preparing what’s to come after these seasons are over and made available on Disney+.
As for the crossover opportunities that fans might be able to see in the near future, Jon Favreau explained that the selections are being made entirely organically at this point, and that’s an interesting thing that’s been in development since The Mandalorian began. When Favreau first started writing the show, he had a relatively blank canvas to work with as far as the time period in the Star Wars canon, and now things are developing more specifically. The director said,
When I was writing the first season of The Mandalorian, I could do just about anything, set it anywhere. Dave [Filoni] I’ll read it, we go back and forth, I’d like to edit it. And there was. Now we have to understand why there are some Mandalorians who wear helmets, and some don’t wear helmets, what’s going on in Mandalore, what is Pu Katan doing at that time? How do you feel about it? Where is Darksaber? So it really creates a very fertile ground for imagination and storytelling.
in its beginning, The Mandalorian It is set nearly five years after the events depicted in Star Wars: Return of the JediAnd that time period has become considerably more complicated since the arrival of the Disney+ series. This clearly worked in favor of the show and Jon Favreau. In the first season, The The Mandalorian is a relatively contained story about a bounty hunter who is tasked with caring for a gifted child, and the consequences of that relationship make the New Republic era naturally more complex and interesting. Said Favreau,
Inevitably, I think, no matter how simple you are at first, the threads of a story begin to connect, weave, and overlap. And with Dave Filoni’s deep understanding of everything about the time period, chances will always arise when we have meetings and conversations about the story, “Well, you know what character is going to be here right now…” I mean, that’s really what Luke does.
By “the Luke thing”, of course, Jon Favreau is referring to the amazing surprise that has appeared Luke Skywalker in Mark Hamill The Mandalorianseason 2 final. The filmmakers behind the show needed to bring in a character that would be a logical choice to train Grogu in the ways of The Force, and at the end of the day, Luke was the obvious answer:
It wasn’t that we necessarily planned to include Luke Skywalker in Season 2. But as we were looking [Grogu] To get training, we started thinking, ‘Okay, what’s a Jedi? Who’s left? And it just starts to make no sense that it’s not Luke. When we start telling stories, these stories take on lives of their own, have paths. And then, when they start telling stories, they have their own paths. Those paths intersect organically, bigger stories with more characters start to make more sense.
By this logic, things will get more interesting as new pieces come into play. Develop all star Wars Show a group in the time period – whether that boba fett bookAnd the Ahsokaor The ship’s crew It will open doors for others, and that should lead to some very exciting franchise stories.
There is clearly a lot going on in star Wars The universe is now, and you can keep track of everything that happens with the combination of both Star Wars Timeline and us Upcoming Star Wars Movies & TV Instructs.
