Elton John to auction Rocket Man Jadu Hoverboard NFT – The Hollywood Reporter

Elton John Partnered with augmented reality platform Jadu and Sweet NFT to offer a one-of-a-kind Rocket Man Jadu Hoverboard NFT auction to raise funds for Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The move, according to the press release, “announces [John’s] Web Entry 3″, also known as the new iteration of the internet with cryptocurrency and NFT built into the platforms, also includes the release of a series of access tokens that give holders the opportunity to unlock future fan experiences as part of the Rocket NFT Club (nft.eltonjohn.com), including exclusive offers and pre-sale opportunities.

The floating plate auction begins at 7 a.m. PT on Monday and closes at 3 p.m. PT on Wednesday, and all sales will benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation as part of its mission to end the AIDS epidemic.

Produced by Jadu, an “Augmented Reality platform that puts Web 3 avatars at the center of certain real-world gameplay,” the Rocket Man Hoverboard is said to be the rarest of the 6,666 items within the Jadu Hoverboard collection.

It was designed by Voxel Bunny, who built Jadu’s jetpacks and hoverboards, with a design that references a keyboard pinball game machine, in honor of John’s “Pinball Wizard” video from 1975. It also features John’s famous glasses, piano keys, and actual musical notes from “Rocket” Man”.

“As an LGTBQ+ fellow artist, it is hard to put into words the pride I feel paying tribute to Elton John and his legacy, which continues to make a tangible impact on the lives of so many,” said Bani. “Knowing that my creativity will play a role in helping to end the AIDS epidemic for the most vulnerable individuals and communities means the world to me.”

John said, “While I’m not an expert in the metaverse (!) I wanted to make sure that first NFT was a real thing for me, and collaborating with LGBTQ+ artist Voxel Bunny and Jadu on something very unique benefiting the Elton John AIDS Foundation Pride Month was the perfect opportunity. Enjoy Web3 has the potential to bring people from all over the world together like never before and I am excited about the opportunities to connect with my fans in a vibrant and growing community.”

Jadu creates virtual objects such as hoverboards and jetpacks that can be owned as NFTs and used in the game with playable 3D avatars. Previous Jadu hoverboard collaborations include Seven-Time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton, musician GRIMES and rapper Snoop Dogg. Jadu is also developing a mobile AR app, which originated from beta in the summer of 2022, that connects to players’ Ethereum wallets, allowing them to transform 3D animated NFTs into playable avatars.

“Our team puts their heart into crafting expressive virtual items without restrictions and allowing collectors to develop a new relationship with their physical surroundings,” said Jadu Founder and CEO Asad J. Malik. “I have really had the pleasure of designing our rarest Hoover board with Elton John’s famous workgroup as inspiration.”

Sweet is a highly flexible NFT platform and marketplace used by creators, sports and entertainment brands, and consumers all over the world.
